About Me

Alex Wilson - 1997 Marching Thunder

Alex Wilson performs with the Marching Thunder at Bands of America in Indianapolis, Indiana.
November, 1997.

I am a diehard Thundering Herd fan and a Marching Thunder alum, playing trumpet from 1994-98. I graduated from Marshall with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts degree in photography and then attend Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where I earned a master's degree in photography in 2001. After completing graduate school I was a photographer for the West Virginia Department of Commerce in Charleston from 2001 to 2007. In early 2007 I moved to Washington D.C. were I was a Multimedia Editor for The Washington Times for 3 years.

I currently live in Morgantown, WV and work as a multimedia specialist for the P.I. Reed School of Journalism at WVU. I also do quite a bit of freelance work as time allows. I have been photographing the Marshall University Marching Thunder since 2003. I not only shoot the group and individual photography but I attend most of the home games and shoot candid photography of the band while they perform.
